Ready to Fight - Day 2 of 5

Day 1: Confidence in Who and Whose I Am

Five-day devotional based on the message, "Ready to Fight" by Senior Pastor Jeff Maness on April 6, 2025. Click here to watch the video.

Devotional
Understanding who and Whose we are is foundational to our spiritual journey. Our identity is our weaponry, and knowing we are dearly loved children of God fortifies our thoughts and actions. Jesus, Himself, was affirmed by the Father before His ministry began, showing us that our identity in God exists apart from our accomplishments. This truth is crucial in breaking the enemy’s strongholds. By continually reminding ourselves of our identity in Christ through Scripture, we can deflect the enemy's attacks and live confidently in God's love.

Bible Verse
“This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.” — Matthew 3:17

Reflection Question
What lies about your identity are you currently battling, and how can you replace them with God’s truth?

Sermon Quote
“Your identity is your weaponry. Putting on the helmet of your salvation is akin to knowing who you are in Christ, fortifying your thinking with it, and living in a way that is congruent with it.” — Priscilla Shirer

Prayer
Lord, remind me daily of who I am in You. Help me to reject the lies of the enemy and embrace the truth of Your Word. Let my identity as Your child guide my thoughts and actions, strengthening my confidence in You. Amen.

Bonus: Truth Statements

As you spend time with Jesus in His Word and in prayer, declare His truth over your life about who and Whose you are. These statements that Pastor Jeff declares over his own life are grounded in the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. These will get you started, and then you can add your own truth statements to these as you read through the Bible daily.

•        “I am who God says I am. He calls me by name; I am His.” —Isaiah 43:1–2

         •        “I am Yours, God, for I belong to You. God bought me with the highest price. He knows me by name. I am His, and He overcomes all my fear.” —1 Corinthians 6:19–20; Isaiah 43:1–2

         •        “By faith, I am a co-heir with Jesus, adopted into the family of God—a loved and accepted son of the Father. I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, and I have resurrection power flowing through my veins from the Holy Spirit.” —Romans 8:12–17

         •        “I am a beloved child and called servant of the Most High God. There is no person, no circumstance, and no voice that can rob me of who I am in Jesus. I am who God says I am.” —Romans 8:35–39
