The next piece of armor, the breastplate of righteousness, protects our spiritual heart. Just as a Roman soldier's breastplate shielded vital organs, righteousness guards our hearts from sin and accusation. Our righteousness isn't about being perfect; it’s about trusting in Jesus, whose sacrifice covers our sins and gives us His righteousness. When our hearts are guarded by righteousness, we're fortified against the attacks of the enemy, enabling us to live confidently and courageously. Remember, righteousness is a gift from God that transforms us from the inside out.
