Gifts for Local Kids in Need
Information for those who wish to donate and those who need assistance
This Christmas season we are collecting gifts for local children who may not have much under the tree otherwise. Please donate NEW, unwrapped toys and gifts, $20-25 in value each, for local children aged 0-18 years old. We are collecting these gifts now through Wednesday, December 13. You can bring your donations with you to A Harbor Family Christmas on the evening of December 3, or bring them to church on Sunday mornings through December 10. We will also take donations at our office, Monday-Thursday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM, through Wednesday, December 13.
Many people love to buy toys and donate them, but the BIGGEST NEEDS are for kids ages 12-18 years old. Here are some suggestions for the teens ($20-25):
Bluetooth headphones
LED light strips
Electric shaving kits
Make-up kits
Hair care items (male & female)
And gift cards for shopping or fast food restaurants
Thank you for your generous help to make this a merrier Christmas for as many kids as we can!
IF YOU ARE IN NEED OF ASSISTANCE:
The organization we are working with is Texas Hope. If a Harbor attender has need of a Christmas gift for their child, they can register on the Texas Hope website (click the button below). After registering, email Mindy.Robertson@theharbor.life, so that she can let Texas Hope know you attend church at The Harbor. That will secure your spot. You must register by December 2, 2023.
Texas Hope helps people in northern Brazoria County, but as a Harbor attender you do not have to live in Brazoria county to receive assistance, nor do all of the other paperwork to be accepted. Non-Harbor attenders must live in Brazoria county and will have to do paperwork to prove residency.

Help senior citizens get warm and cozy this winter
We are collecting pajamas and slippers for senior citizens at a local nursing home, Village on the Park. PJs and slippers can be any price range and size but must be NEW. Ideally, you would purchase the pajamas and slippers in corresponding sizes to go to one person.
Donations must be unwrapped and must be dropped off at The Harbor no later than Sunday, December 10. Bring your donation with you when you come to A Harbor Family Christmas on December 3! Thank you for helping those less fortunate have a warm, cozy, and fun Christmas this year!
Please email Mindy Robertson at Mindy@theharbor.life with any questions you may have.

Bring items each sunday!
We are collecting non-perishable food items, cleaning supplies, paper goods, personal hygiene items, baby supplies (diapers, formula, etc), and dog food for area pantries every day. A list of high demand items can be found on an easel near the orange food pantry right outside our Worship Center doors. You can drop off items 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our pantry is always available for donations!
Even if you bring one can, that can might be the difference between a meal or going hungry for someone in our area.

THE SANCTUARY FOSTER CARE SUPPORT
The Sanctuary is a different kind of child placement agency, one that seeks to achieve permanent sanctuary in healing homes for children from hard places. They do this by offering support and training so the foster parents will be fully equipped to help these children heal. Not everyone can be a foster parent, but everyone can do something to help. Learn more about The Sanctuary here.

BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATERS
The Bridge's mission is to offer support, provide safety and prevent domestic and sexual violence. Volunteers are the backbone of The Bridge and make a significant impact on the women who come for help. When volunteers show up to help someone they have never met and may never see again, it gives hope, hope for a future without violence, hope for a better life for both them and their children. And it begins to rebuild their belief and trust in humanity. Learn how you can help here.

THE HARBOR MEAL MINISTRY NEEDS VOLUNTEERS
We need chefs willing to help provide meals for The Harbor Meal Ministry when needed.
Being willing doesn’t always make it easy to determine where to serve. We’d love to help! Contact Mindy Robertson and just ask for a phone call. She can talk about the specific, often changing needs of these ministries. And she’s great at narrowing down the opportunities according to your personality, talents, and preferences.
